Henryk Erlich (1882-1941) y Victor Alter (1890-1941) fueron líderes del Jewish Labor Bund en Polonia hasta que fueron encarcelados en la Unión Soviética. Se organizó una campaña mundial para conseguir su liberación, que atrajo a personalidades destacadas de Estados Unidos y otros países.
